What a house move actually looks like
A residential move is mostly preparation. Before a single box leaves, the crew walks the house with you, agrees what is going and what is staying, and protects the path: floor runners down the main walkway, pads on bannisters, doorframes wrapped at the corners where the damage always happens.
Furniture is disassembled only where it needs to be. Bed frames, table legs and anything that will not clear a stairwell come apart, and the hardware is bagged and taped to the piece it belongs to, so reassembly at the other end is not a search.
Loading order is planned around the unload, not the load. What comes off first is what you need first, which is why the beds are usually the last thing on the truck and the first thing back in the house.
Stairs, driveways and the things that slow a move down
North Georgia housing stock brings a predictable set of obstacles. Split levels and finished basements mean two stair runs instead of one. Long or steeply pitched driveways mean the truck parks further from the door than anyone would like, which adds carry time on every trip.
These are estimating problems, not surprises. Telling us about the stairs and the driveway when you book is what keeps the estimate accurate, and it is why we ask.

How long does a house move take?
A two bedroom home local to Fayette or Coweta county typically runs four to six hours with a two person crew. A four bedroom usually runs a full day and is better served by a three or four person crew. Stairs, driveway length and how much packing is left when we arrive move that number more than distance does.
Do I have to be there on move day?
Someone with authority to make decisions should be on site at both ends. You do not need to lift anything, but questions come up about what goes where, and the move runs faster when someone can answer them on the spot.
What will not go on the truck?
Hazardous items cannot be transported: propane tanks, gasoline, paint thinner, aerosols, ammunition and similar. We will flag anything during the walkthrough so it does not become a problem on the day.
